TJ and I went on a drive yesterday and discovered a place called Hemlock Grove, not very far from home. We headed out the Gore Rd past Hall's Orchards and saw a small sign on the side of the road pointing down what looked like a logging road. The sign said Hemlock Grove - A Protected Forest. As the logging road looked to be in decent shape, we took a chance and started down the road. Of course I was always mindful of just how far I would have to back up to get to a suitable turn-around point if the road became impassable.
It was peaceful and quiet, except for my 60's on 6 playing on the radio. The trees were in full fall colours.
We stopped a few times along the 5 kilometer road into the woods.
And here is the sign at the end of the road describing just what we had found.
The pathway leading into the grove. I could see another sign deep in the depths of the woods.
A map of a small trails system and a few points of interest.
A beautiful leaf strewn grove of trees. Very quiet and still. The following pictures are what I took before the batteries died in my camera. We will go back another day and walk the trail for more adventure.
